January 5, 2014: Three Months!

Ezra is 3 months old! At 3 months he weighs 14 lb. 1 oz. These days Ezra keeps himself busy sucking on his hands (towards the end of the month he finally took a pacifier!), drooling everywhere, blowing bubbles, and laughing as much as possible. He is getting really vocal and while he loves staring at his mobile or the balloon over his changing pad, he always wants to be part of the action.

All bundled up! This is the only hat he will let us put on him.

Ezra always gets excited when Dad comes home!

Meeting Lincoln for the first time at Christmas!

He always has paparazzi around him.

Lincoln and Ezra in their Christmas jammies on Christmas Eve.

Ezra celebrates Christmas in style. He slept through almost all the presents.

He loves to laugh!

He is also a student of Houdini. One morning we found he had escaped from his swaddle and pj's.

Ezra is very cultured, but prefers to soak up the Houston Natural History Museum via osmosis.

Ezra loves the animals at the Houston Zoo.

December 5, 2013: Two Months!

We cannot believe Ezra is already 2 months old! The days are flying by ever since this little guy came into our world and we love every minute with him. As of 2 months he weighs 12 lb. 5 oz. Lately he has begun to find his voice and delights us with soft coos. He also is really starting to enjoy sitting on our laps and looking at picture books with us. We just can't get enough of him!

Ezra always has a good time with Dad! Smiling at Dad, falling asleep with Dad, or peeing on Dad! Ezra doesn't mind what they are doing as long as he can snuggle or get a great big smile out of him.

One of the many faces that delight us each day. He was still enjoying his rock-n-play at the beginning of the month, but now he just loves stretching out in his crib.

Ezra does not enjoy tummy time, but tolerates it more when he has lots to look at!
He's also better about it now that he can do this when he decides he is done:

This month we took Ezra to church for the first time.

He also earned his wings on his first flight to Las Vegas...

where he had his first Thanksgiving...

and met his adorable cousin and second cousin!

He also got to meet Grandpa Sears...

and snuggle with him a lot!

The highlight of Ezra's second month was the beautiful baby blessing Joe gave to him surrounded by family and friends.

One of the best moments of our trip to Vegas was when Ezra was playing with Grandma Meservy and let out a great big laugh! It was his best laugh yet. Although he flashes us lots of smiles, he is still pretty shy about his voice and doesn't laugh too often so this was so much fun!

November 5, 2013: One Month!

Our little boy is 1 month old! At his one month check-up he weighed 9 lb. 15 oz. and was 22 in. long. When he was born I was surprised by how sturdy and strong I felt he was and now he is even stronger. After his birth, Ezra quickly regained his birth weight and he kept us very busy with his active zeal for life. He often swings his arms around grabbing at nearby shelves or our clothing and we can't get enough of the way he kicks those little legs. We've learned a lot this past month and had a lot of firsts, but we've loved getting to know our little one better and better each day.

Ezra loves:

  • Eating all day long... there is no better activity in his book.
  • Baths. I've never seen him so relaxed as when he is sitting in a tub of warm water.
  • Car rides. Nothing puts him to sleep faster.
  • Being swaddled. He sleeps so much better when he's all bundled up.
  • Looking out the window on sunny days or at the pictures we have hung on the walls.
  • Falling asleep on his parents' bellies.
  • Playing on his play gym.
  • Smiling up at Daddy and me after his tummy is full. (His big social smiles started up towards the end of the month)
  • Sleeping in his rock-n-play, but only if he's completely out before we put him there. We are so blessed that he has slept through the night (8ish hours) on a few occasions during his first month.
  • Kicking his socks off. He is an escape artist.
Ezra dislikes:
  • Pacifiers. We've tried a few, but as soon as he realizes no milk is coming he spits them out as far away from himself as he can muster!
  • The cold and the wind.
  • Having to go to sleep. He fights it because there is just too much to see around here.
He's an adventure.

Some memorable moments from Ezra's first month:

Ezra's first bath at the hospital.

Ezra arriving home for the very first time.

Baby loves co-sleeping though we don't let him do it as much as he would like. Here he is with Grandma Sears.

In the beginning Ezra could stare at Daddy forever.

Ezra loves looking in the mirror of his play gym. Thanks for the great toy Grandma & Grandpa Meservy!

Tummy time has good times and bad times... here's a good time.

All bundled up to pick up Daddy from school. Love the GU hat!

We love the bright eyes and fun smile he has started dazzling us with these days. This picture was taken on Ezra's first Halloween. He was dressed up as a basketball, but baby clothes never last long around here...
